Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct molecular and ecological phylogenetic research on the biogeography, phylogenetics, and evolution of Hawaiian ferns. Extracting DNA from plant material using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and amplify fragments of DNA, performing DNA sequence reactions and arranging for DNA sequencing, conducting phylogenetic and biogeographic analyses, conducting field work, and writing papers to be submitted to peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in geography specializing in plants.
  • 3 years experience conducting field work in the Hawaiian Islands.
  • Knowledge of fern diversity.
