- Part-time, for placement on lecturer candidate pool, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. Day, evening, or Saturday offerings, on- and off-campus.
- Under general supervision, to conduct courses in Business Technology.
- Maintain office hours of at least one hour per week for each course taught
- Prepare course outlines and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Work under supervision of department chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- Student and peer evaluations and self-assessment of teaching effectiveness are required.
- May include instructional assignments involving distance learning.
- Commitment to community college principles and philosophy is essential.
- The college strongly emphasizes the “open door” concept and serves a diverse student and community population.
- All degrees must be earned from an accredited institution. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
- BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY: (a) Master’s degree in Business Education, OR (b) Master’s degree in a business related field (Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Information Technology, Finance, or any other similar business degree) with a minimum of 18 credits in Business Technology or Administrative Support courses (UHCC BUSN alpha courses or similar), OR (c) Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and three years of related work experience (within the last five years), OR (d) Bachelor’s degree in Business related field (Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Information Technology, Finance, or any other similar business degree) with a minimum of 18 credits in Business Technology or Administrative Support courses (UHCC BUSN alpha courses or similar) and three years of related work experience (within the last five years), OR (e) Bachelor’s degree in any field and five years of related work experience (within the last five years). Related work experience must be within the last five years and includes skills taught in Business Technology Programs, e.g. records management following industry-approved Association for Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) procedures, document formatting, etc.; and/or secondary or postsecondary Business Education teaching experience.
- Successful community college teaching experience.
- Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of students’ classroom learning activities.
